Swim Lesson Levels

Beginner: (No Experience: Ages 5 and under) 

For children who are timid or new to swimming. Must be toilet trained. Skills taught:

  • Getting comfortable in the water

  • Breathing mechanics

  • Going under water

  • Floating

  • Kicking

  • Treading

Pre-Advanced Beginner: (Ages 6 and up)

For older children who are new to swimming. Skills taught: (same as above)

Advanced Beginner: (Ages 6 and up)

For children who are comfortable and go under water. Skills taught:

  • Floating (review)

  • Kicking (2nd day devoted to kicking)

  • Backstroke

  • Freestyle

  • Bi-Lat (rotational breathing)

  • Endurance treading

Intermediate: (Ages 8 and up)

For those who can pass the deep end test by swimming two laps of the pool without stopping and tread water for two minutes. Review of beginner and advanced beginner skills. Progressing skills and strokes taught: 

  • Form and endurance building for front and back

  • Breaststroke

  • Sidestroke

  • Introduction to basic rescue drills

Advanced Intermediate: (Ages 8 and up)

For those who have completed intermediate lessons and want to strengthen technique while having fun with peers. Review of all previous skills. Progressing skills and strokes taught:

  • Endurance/fine tune stroke mechanics

  • butterfly

  • Starts and turns
